History of Chevrolet Cruze

Chevy Cruze is a compact car, that's been around since 2008. Before that the same nameplate was used for the joint venture project with Suzuki, that was sold from 2001 and 2008 and it was based on earlier Suzuki Ignis. When the new vehicle production started it was meant to replace Chevrolet Cobalt and Daewoo Lancetti on the South Korean market. This model is produced in various assembling facilities around the world and sold worldwide under few different nameplates and badges. In Australia it is sold under the Holden badge and in South Korea it is called Daewoo Lancetti Premiere.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze Overview

First 2016 Chevrolet Cruze model that was presented to the public is the one that's going to be sold on Chinese market. Later spy photographer caught US model during its test drives. These two models don't defer significantly, but the US model has some changes that makes it more convenient to the American drivers. It is still based on GM Delta II platform, together with bunch of other models including Buick Verano.

Exterior

Most of the changes between Chinese and American version are located in the front end. On spy photos from the test drives, new Cruze almost had no camuflage. One of the new things we noticed is a bisected grille that resembles the one seen in Chevy Sonic. Rest of the exterior is more or less the same what we saw in Beijing. New model features blend design that seems like an average compact sedan. Higher trim levels will come with the full HID headlamps and LED daylights.

There are also few interior changes in the new Cruze model. It comes with redesigned gauge cluster, steering wheel and center stack. It comes in elegant looking two toned design with moire premium materials used than in previous model years.

1,5 liter Ecotec four cylinder engine from 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Performance

Base model  will come with Ecotec 1,5 liter four cylinder engine, which is going to replace the old and relatively weak 138 hp 1,8 liter four. We hope that the new engine will bring the slight boost in power and torque. It is still unknown is 1,4 litre turbocharged four going to be part of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze line up. Top of the line trim will come with 2,0 turbocharged diesel engine that was introduced in 2014 model year. These engines will be paired with six speed automatic transmission. Buyers we'll aslo be able to choose six speed manual or seven speed dual clutch transmission as an additional option.

Other Possible Options

Cruze has lots of very though competition, since some of the most famous models worldwide come from compact sedan class. You can say that this model is GM's answer to Toyota Corolla. We will skip the well known competitors like Corolla and Camry. Real competition to this model is the only VW compact sedan sold in the US, VW Jetta TDi, there's also highly popular Ford Focus and of course Honda Civic.

Price and Release Date

Price of the new model is still unknown. Same goes for official release date, but we figure it will come somewhere in the end of 2015. When it comes to price it is hard to predict anything, it will definitely cost more than $17,995 which was the MSRP of 2015 Chevrolet Cruze.

Statement

Cruze is as ordinary and average as one car can get. While driving it you won't make people turn around, or girls jumping on your back seat. Although if you have good people skills, looks or charm, you can get away with literately any car, including Chevy Cruze.

What Girls Think About Chevy Cruze?

Girls generally think this car is average. One girl told us it looks sleepy and cute, while some others told us that it probably comes with a good gas mileage, since they don't see any other  reason in buying this vehicle. Whole design is similar to the one we can is in Chevy Cruze, but Buick gave much more attention to detail while making this model. Verano also comes with spacious backseat and trunk area.Verano also offers some good deals when it comes to additional features. There are a lot of ways to make your Verano premium, but it will affect its price a lot. With all the extra features Verano can cost even $10,000 more. There are all kinds of goodies in this offer from: from heated seats and side mirrors, rear parking alarm, Bose surround sound, power driver seat and the finest leather trim you can imagine. In the basic package you get: USB port, rear view camera, power locks start and mirrors, satellite radio, CD player and cloth upholstery.

This is the most disappointing segment in 2015 Buick Verano package. It is undoubted that this car is offering some appealing looks, comfortable and even premium interior, but it really failed when it comes to power, acceleration and fuel efficiency. It comes with much larger engine than Chevy Cruze, but it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 8,6 seconds which is  just a little bit better then Cruze and similar to Acura ILX, which also failed performance section with its 2015 model.2015 Buick Verano comes with 2,4 liter four cylinder engine that can deliver 180 horsepower and six speed manual gear box. Much sportier is turbo-charged version that comes with 2,0 liter engine that delivers 250 horsepower and the same amount of torque and can reach 129 mph, which is quite good comparing to other turbo-charged compact sedans.

Verano is quite affordable, although it offers some border luxury features, especially when it comes to interior. Basic package costs around $20,000 (MSRP) which is definitely a fair game, comparing to other vehicles in its class.

Biggest rival of Buick Verano is always going to be Chevy Cruze. They share the same platform and really look a like. Verano offers much more comfortable interior and slightly better acceleration, but other then that it is like talking about the same vehicle.

Statement

Like with other compact sedans, this is more of a family or business than car the delivers some kind of powerful statement. If you however want to buy one of these for yourself and think this car will make you cool, you are definitely wrong. This is an average car, for an average bloke, with an average salary, home, life etc. On the other hand this can be taken as a positive feature too, since people will give more attention to you than to the car you drive... Or wait, maybe that's bad.

Verano means ''Summer'' in Spanish, and that's how this model got its name. This car had a few movie and TV appearances, but only played minor roles, mostly in police series like: Chicago PD and Major Crimes,but also in some drama and comedy series like The Millers and The After. 

It was really hard to find a photo with hot girls and Buick Verano, so I give you Chevy Cruze instead, photo I found on Chevy Cruze Forum.

  

What Do Girls think About It

One friend gave a good guess when she said it looks comfortable, after seeing only the exterior photo, so I guess that means we are talking about really comfortable car. She also said it looks calculated and a little bit too plain. On the other hand our expert from the States said that this can definitely be a project car and that an old fellow can pick up some good looking girls, just with driving one of these around the neighborhood. The third girl said that this car looks really cute that she wouldn't mind getting it as a birthday present.
