Short History of Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

Carroll Shelby (1923-2012) RIP

He was one of the greatest car constructors that'd ever been born. Although through out his life he copped with a serious heart problems, that didn't stop him in becoming a legend in both racing and car design. He started his racing career during fifties and it went from driving his friends TC Midget to becoming Cad-Allard, Aston Martin and Maserati teams. He won 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Mount Washington Hillclimb Auto Race (with 10:21.8 record run). He also participated in Formula 1 races during 1958 and 159 and received Driver of the Year award from Sports Illustrated.

After he retired from racing he opened Shelby American company which imported AC Cobra racing cars from Great Britain and equip them with Ford V8 engines. Soon his company started assembling some of the most legendary American pony cars like: Shelby Mustang GT350, Shelby Mustang GT500. Accept Ford Shelby also worked with Dodge and Oldsmobile. He also made Series 1 which is the only car made from paper by Shelby's company. He took part in many projects in and out automotive industry, from designing wheels for Saab to organizing Terguila Chilli Cooking Championship. He received 2008 Automotive Executive of the Year Award, entered Woodrow Wilson High School hall of fame and founded Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation that heart disease treatments for children, who can't afford them.

Shelby Mustang GT350

It is a high performance version of Ford Mustang made by Carroll Shelby's company in the second half of sixties and from 2007 until this day. First model was made for 1965 model year and it was the smallest out of all GT350 models. These vehicles were often called Cobra's, like regular Cobra A.C. models made in cooperation between Ford and Shelby American. They also came with the cobra emblem. First models didn't offered much comfort and weren't made for easy driving. They were made to be race models only, under the SCCA rules. Later this model received numerous interior and exterior updates and became a regular high performance pony car. Last model year of the old Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 was 1970, after which Carroll Shelby terminated his agreement with Ford. After a long pause, on 45th anniversary of the first Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 release, Shelby American released a new GT350 model that came with 5,0 liter V8 engine. It was also promoted as a post-title upgrade and offered to 2011 Mustang owners to take their vehicle to Las Vegas Shelby plant for a conversion.

2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Overview

This model comes as a spiritual successor of the Shelby Mustang, but it is actually fully produced by the Ford SVT division. It has much more in common with Ford Mustang Boss 302, than with the last Mustang Shelby GT500 that comes with powerful superchrged engine. New model is caught testing in Dearborn, Michigan near the Ford companies headquarters, as well as at the Nurburgring testing tracks.

Exterior

New model is based on the same platform as regular Ford Mustang GT. It comes with a stiffed coupe body, with without big rear wing, bigger wheels and hood vents, which is all very different from the looks of the last Shelby GT500 model, that came with all that, plus some extra. On its front it comes with an angry maw and numerous openings covered with mash. It also has two kinked bars in the grille opening, which is seen often on the vehicles that come from Ford's SVT division. This model will come with improved aerodynamics with the new front splitter and two canards attached to the front bumper.In the back we can see four nice looking exhaust outlets, and muscular-looking diffuser element.

Interior

There's no information about this model's interior design. We think like the rest of the configuration it might look like something we saw in Mustang Boss 302, but since we are not sure, we shall wait for a few months and then try to find out some more info.

Performance section of the new model is where it completely defers from the GT500 model, which in previous model year's came with large 5,6 liter Trinity V8 engine that is able to produce 662 horsepower. Future Shelby GT350 engine is going to be 5,0 litre V8, dubbed ''Voodoo'' engine and it is going to be the modified version of  5,0 liter V8 Coyote engine from Mustang GT. This engine is going to be able to produce 552 horsepower which is more than its main rival Camaro Z/28. Manual transmission will come as part of the base offer, and ford is not planing to pair this engine with automatic transmission.

Other Possible Options

Chevrolet Camaro, is naturally aspired rival of any vehicle from Mustang line up, and Z/28 model is in constant race with mustang Shelbies. Corvette and GT-R are much stronger and more expensive vehicles, but for people who like high speeds and power boosts, these are a logical next step.

Price and Release Date

These information are also not available yet, but we expect the new model's base version to cost around $50,000. 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is going to be released in the  end of 2015.

If you read online lifestyle magazines and similar ''Tell me how to live'' crap, you probably noticed that in articles where they tell about what each car tells about its driver, sport car drivers are labeled as  insecure or sometimes even as pure assholes. Trivia

Gone in 60 Seconds movie featured customized Ford Mustang Shelby from 1971 with a sports roof. It was dubbed Eleanor and it was the first car to receive star title credit in a movie. remake of the same movie also featured the same car. Later this vehicle was the reason of controversy, when Carroll Shelby's company start producing their version of Eleanor, but they were sued by the widow of H.B. Toby Halicki, independent fimmaker and the director of the first movie. Halicki's widow won the case and the production of the new Eleanor was ceased.
Shelby Mustangs were seen in some really famous Hollywood movies like: Charlies Angels, I Spy, Apollo 13 and the mentioned Gone in 60 Seconds.

Girls we interviewed about this model have different opinions. Some of them though that this car looks very powerful, handsome and delivers powerful statement. Others think that this looks like a ride of some newly rich guy who decided to invest all his wealth into that car and tuning parts that go with it. In one sentence they think the owner would give more care to its car then to them. One girl also told us that this is a right car for the rich bachelor if he wants to attract women.

History of Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson is a crossover vehicle, one of the most popular ones from Hyundai line up. It is slotted between Santa Fe and Veracruz crossovers and its name comes from the name of second biggest city in Arizona. First model was launched in 2004 and it is made on the Hyundai Elantra-based platform. Second generation came in 2009, and its production is still on. After releasing second generation vehicle Hyundai changed this models name in some markets, so since then this vehicle is known in Europe as Hyundai ix35, while in South Korea it is known as Hyundai Tucson ix. This crossover is related to the another famous Korean crossover vehicle, Kia Sportage.

2016 Hyundai Tucson Overview

Not long time a go spy photographers caught new Tucson model on the test track. There is going to be a lot of changes in the new model. On spy photos only exterior changes are visible, but we believe that the new model is going to come with some big interior updates as well. Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski announced in an interview he gave to Edmunds portal that new vehicle is going to come with more refined styling. "You will see really elegant, taut, athletic, aggressive styling that is very, very attractive," he said. "It looks bigger but it is not. It is just the way it is styled." (Edmunds)

Exterior 

From spy photos that were released to the public we can see that 2016 Hyundai Tucson comes with much more aggressive and futuristic design. It has redesigned headlights with 3D effect. In the front we can see the new grille design that is similar to the grille we can see on some other Hyundai models like: Sonata and Genesis. It also comes with a redesigned full LED headlights that paired with the new grille make Tucson's front look wider.

Performance

This model is probably going to come with the same engines in 2016 model year. That means we'll see again 2,0 liter GLS four cylinder, that came with an 29 mpg in combined conditions EPA estimate. Another engine option is the 2,4 litre inline four cylinder that was able to produce 182 horsepower and delivered 28 mpg, EPA estimated. These numbers might go higher next year, since we expect a minor power and fuel efficiency boost.
There were some rumors on the web. that 2016 Hyundai Tucson model is going to come with diesel engine. Best possible candidate for the place under Tucson's hood for now is a 2,2 liter Skyactive D, which was already announced to be added to the Hyundai CX-5 range, but that simply didn't happened. Another possible option is the hybrid powertrain. Hyundai already has hidrogen fuel cell model in Tucson line up.

Hyundai Tucson is in very competitive class, since crossovers literately flooded the market in last two decades. Some of the most popular rivals of this model are: Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.

Price and Release Date

Price and release date of the new model are still unknown. We can expect a minor increase from the last year's model price. 2015 Hyundai Tucson can be bought for $21,650. This is one of the most affordable crossover vehicles at this moment, so we don't believe new model is going to be much more expensive. Release date will probably come in the end of 2015.

Few decades ago everybody thought that SUV drivers were less environmentally-minded than others. Since the crossover class came and new vehicles come with compact car fuel efficiency, SUV lovers can enjoy all the space and off road capability they like, without being labeled from new age Subaru hippies that their vehicle is a danger to the environment. Statements that these vehicles send are different from country to country. In Eastern Europe for example, most of the post-communist criminals, businessmen and oligarchs take SUVs as the car of their choice. That's why in some countries in this part of the world SUV became a status symbol, similar to luxury sedan in the West. You can see this crossover in various European movies, from US movies and series you might saw it in: Nikita, Running Man, Home and Away and Unforgettable. One of the biggest blows in Hyundai Tucson production was a big recall that happened this year when Hyundai decided to recall more than 130,000 vehicles because of the air bag malfunction. The recall involved models sold from 2011 until 2013.

Girls that we asked about this model said that it looks nice and functional, we also showed the spy photos from 2016 Hyundai Tucson testing and they didn't really noticed the difference between the old and the new model. They think that guys who drive these vehicles are smart and organized, one girl told us that the vehicle is to big for a city ride, but that it probably offers a lot of comfort and it can be used in various interesting ways.

First Nissan GT-R was developed to be grand tourer addition to the wide Nissan Skyline range. It was produced from 1969 until 1974 and from 1989 until 2002. Separate nameplate was developed between 2002 and 2007, two concept vehicles were presented on Tokyo Motor Show, one in 2001 and the other in 2005. Production version came in 2007 and it was presented on Tokyo Motor Show during the same zear. Few months after that in December 2007, production version arrived at the dealer shop in Japan. One year later, this model arrived to United States and Canada. New model took ''Godzilla'' nickname of its Skyline predecessor. It won vast number of awards, among which Supercar of the Year award from Top Gear in 2007, Car of the Year award from Evo Magazine in 2008 and Car of the Year award from Motortrend in 2009.

New Model Overview

If you tell anybody about hybrid grand tourer 10 years ago, that person will definitely think you are mad. Now when 2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid is more than just a wild rumor, all this doesn't sound mad anymore. Nissan's CEO Taro Tsujimoto said that Nissan GT-R has alwazs been a paradigm of affordable performance, and that its constantly beating its more expensive rivals from Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren range. New hybrid supercar is just confirmation of these words, and it will bring fuel efficiency segment to the new level in grand tourer class.

Exterior

We don't think the exterior is going to change much from the current look of the regular GT-R. Some of the changes that can be expected in exterior segment with the hybrid model are those that will make it lighter, more aerodynamic and wind resistant. So we might expect some additional carbon-fiber parts in the new model's body. Maybe some of the carbon-fiber elements like: roof, hood or trunklid are going to be taken from new Nissan GT-R Nismo model. In addition to that we can expect some large rear spoiler also made with carbon fiber and maybe some air intakes too.

This is one of the segments whose design and functionality is really hard to predict. We think that it will come with most of the regular GT-R gear like: aniline leather upholstery with hand contrast stitching, display with some nice graphics that's probably going to be made in cooperation with Polyphony Digital and  is going to include hybrid system, battery and fuel efficiency information together with another seven info pages from the last year's model, carbon fiber interior trim and top of the line Recaro seats.

2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid will come with some latest technology when it comes to performance. Rumors say it will be able to deliver more than 800 horsepower and it is going to come with new ATTESSA II Electric All-Wheel-Drive. It will come with 3,8 liter twin turbo V6 engine that's going to be paired with two electric motors driving the front wheels with an independent vector torque and seven speed dual clutch transmission. Nissan engineers predict 800 horsepowers output and 870 pound feet of torque, but these figures are not final yet, since this model is expecting its fine tuning. It will be able to reach 60 mph in only 2,5 seconds, but when driving in  its Ultra Attack Mode it will be able to reach this speed in only 1,8 seconds which is just a little bit faster then Corvette Z06.

Price and Release Date 

Price and release date haven't been revealed yet. We know that this model is definitely going to cost more than regular GT-R, that's been much more affordable than almost any other vehicle in its class. Hybrid version will be at least few thousand dollars more expensive than the regular version that could be bough last year for $97,600. Release date is still unknown, it will probably be at the end of the big marketing campaign which already started 6 months ago. We expect this model to be available at the dealers in the end of 2015.

Nissan GT-R is probably one of the most competitive gran tourers, that's mostly because of its price since it is drastically less expensive than most other vehicles in its class. Some hybrid supercar models that are much more expensive are: BMW i8, Porsche 915 Spider and McLaren P1. There is of course the king of the hybrid supercars, LaFerrari, which offers much better performance than the model we're talking about, but for the price that can't even be compared with the one of GT-R.

These cars are mostly driven by the celebrities that are one hit away from rehab and house appliances commercials that come afterwards as the only way to repay your beach house and fancy car mortgage. There's also one bright thing when it comes to GT-R, and that's its price, so if you are aspiring celebrity you won't have to do all kinds of disgraceful commercials and guest appearances to pay off your fancy ride, since its one of the cheapest out there. This model is also seen in Need for Speed video game, also regular place to find this type of cars. There are a lot of celebrities who drive Nissan GT-R, some of them are: Usain Bolt (who owns a golden GT-R), Rickie Fowler- famous golf player, Apollo Ohno Borrows- famous skater and Robert Downey Jr.

What Girls Think About Nissan GT-R?

We made a standard poll and asked around and most of the girls we talked to had nice impressions when it comes to Nissan GT-R. Their comments went from: ''WOOOOW'' to ''Is this a Batmobile?''. One girls with a little more knowledge told us that this must be a very expensive car that can be driven only by the ''Wall Street and the upper class'' and that ''Middle class must be financed for this''. So we guess that whole Nissan strategy when it comes to GT-R is very successful.

History

Subaru BR-Z is a grand tourer sport coupe made by Subaru and Toyota and sold under Toyota, Subaru and Scion badge. It is sold under various names worldwide, like: Subaru BR-Z, Toyota 86, Scion Fr-S etc. As part of the Toyota line up this model is presented as the successor of AE86, with some influence of older sport models like 2000 GT and Sports 800. In Subaru line up this model’s name stands for B-Boxer engine, R-Rear wheel drive and Z-Zenith. Two years ago, new BR-Z Ts model was introduced, which is sold only on the Japanese market, it comes with more premium exterior and sport features, and one even sportier trim named BR-Z Ts GT.

Overview

2016 Subaru BR-Z will come with a great combination of sport car features and a modest price which qualifies it to be one of the most popular ‘’sport car for everybody’’ models.

Exterior

We don't expect too many changes in the new model. One of the best things about this model is its ultra-lightweight chassis. This makes it faster and increases its fuel-efficiency drastically.  One half of the vehicles produced come in a blue color and are part of BR-Z’s Blue Series.  These vehiclkes also get little bit improved aerodynamics with front side and side rear under spoilers which gives them more dynamic look than the regular white paint models.

We still don’t know the updates for the new model’s interior, but we believe there’s definitely going to be some since last year’s changes fit in really well with this model’s interior design. It comes with powerful looking blue trimmings, some of them made in Alcantra leather like seat side bolsters or part of the steering wheel wrapper. New model will come with carbon fiber central dash board introduced in last year’s model, as well as the day and night rear view mirror. Accept also carpeting with BR-Z logos on the floor.

Subaru BR-Z Engine

This is one of the weakest spots in the 2016 Subaru BR-Z. Last year's model came with similar solution in the performance segment and many drivers think that this model's engine is simply too weak. In 2016 BR-Z will come with 2,0 liter flat fur cylinder engine. It can deliver 200 horsepower and 150 pound feet of torque. This is much weaker than Corvette for example which is one of the biggest rivals for this model on American market. Standard version comes with rear wheel drive and it is possible to choose between manual or automatic six speed transmission. It can reach 143 mph which is its maximum speed and from 0 to 60 mph it can go in 6,3 seconds, which is kind of average for its class.

Price and Release Date

One of the best things about this model is its price. Base version can be bought for $25,595, which includes six speed manual transmission. Blue Series is more expensive and its last year’s price was $29,490. There’s not much information about the release date of this model, but we think it will arrive at the dealers in the end of 2015.

There are a lot of competing models in this class, we’ll skip few most famous ones like Mustang or Camaro and recommend you to take a closer look on: Nissan 370Z Nismo, Dodge Charger and Mazda MX5 Miata.

Statement

There are a lot of prejudice about gay people being Subaru’s targeted audience with its support of the Rainbow Card program and campaign slogans, like that one from the 90’s that goes: ’’It’s Not a Choice, It’s the Way We Are Built’’. All this is true, but is just prejudice after all. Since sport cars are typically a guys thing, Subaru sport coupes are no different and give you the same macho look as you would expect from Mustang or Camaro. Same as the other sport cars BR-Z is a real chick magnet.

Trivia

We haven’t seen this model in too many movies, only movie where you can see Subaru BR-Z is Fast and Furious 6 with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez. In Serbian language word BRZ means fast.

What Girls Think About Subaru BR-Z?

We asked around about this model and got a great feedback that will make all the BR-Z enthusiasts happy. One model-looking chick told us that she will definitely go out with the guy who drives this car, although that wouldn't be the prime motive in doing that... Or maybe it would, she looked really undecided about that. Another girl told us that this vehicle looks like those from Need for Speed and that it looks really nice on the outside. She said that the first words that came to her mind when she saw this car were: sable and Reliable.
